Would you enter or stay in a strange house found in the middle of the sea? These strange-looking small forts are not less than a movie
scene and they are in the middle of the sea. These are known as ‘Red Sands Fort’ and Hardly anyone knows about the story behind these
red sands fort. There is a 77-year-old storey behind it, which is linked to Britain and Germany.
These forts are located in the sea about seven miles from the coast of England, but you will be surprised to know that very few people in
England knows about this. These forts built close to the famous Thames River and can only be reached by boats. However, people come
here rarely.
In the 1960s, some youths started a radio station from these forts and everything went well for a few years, but due to the change in the
policies of the British government in 1967, this sea radio station was closed forever.
Due to lack of maintenance, these forts had reached a shabby condition, but in the early 21st century some of the people of Britain came to
the attention, after which some ex-soldiers, engineers and history savvy people used these sea forts. Project Red Sand started to repair.
The purpose of this project is to preserve this page of British history.
These sea forts were built in 1943 during the second world war. Their purpose was to protect London from the bombing of the German Air
Force. It is said that more than 200 British troops were stationed at these forts at that time, monitoring the skies day and night to destroy
German fighter jets before reaching London.
