According to the Guinness World Records, You Jianxia from Shangai holds the world record for the longest eyelashes β her lashes measure in at a whopping 12.40cm.
This has earned her a spot in the Guinness World Book of Records 2018. She beats the previous record holder, Gillian Criminisi from Canada whose eyelashes measured at 8.07cm.
Youβs lashes are almost 5 inches long and took their owner nearly 50 years to grow.
All the Guinness World Records publishers shared about Jianxia in a press release promoting the 2018 edition, which includes Jianxiaβs record, is that she discovered the scarily long lash βduring an 18-month nature retreat she embarked on in 2013.β
According to the publishers, βShe puts the growth down to the life she leads at one with nature.β BRB, scheduling a camping trip to grow out my lashes.
On how she takes care of her record-breaking eyelashes, Jianxia said in a 2019 interview;
βBy simply cleansing them when I wash my face. They are a part of my body and do not inconvenience me at all.β
Others who have received recognition from Guinness World Records are Ayanna Williams, from Houston, Texas, who has the worldβs longest nails measuring 18 feet and 10.9 inches, and Cygnus the cat, from Ferndale, Mich., with a 17.58-inch tail.
