Nigerians have taken to social media to react to the discharge and acquittal of Senate President Bukola Saraki by the Code of Conduct Tribunal over alleged false declaration of assets.
The chairman of the tribunal, Umar Danladi had in his ruling on Wednesday thrown out the case and discharged the accused on the grounds that the evidences presented by the Federal Government were not substantial enough for the case to continue.
It would be recalled that Saraki who had been on trial since 2015 had in a no-case submission filed before the CCT on May 26, 2017, argued that none of the exhibits tendered and no evidence given by the four prosecution witnesses linked him to the alleged offences to warrant him to defend the charges.
Below are reactions from Nigerians on Twitter.
Saraki's trial was obviously political. The prosecution of the charges were shoddy at best. And the political climate has changed.

Bukola Saraki has gone from being a 'laughing matter' to arguably the most influential politician in our current democracy.

The Saraki debacle is one of the reasons why King Solomon prayed for wisdom, knowledge & understanding…….Buhari wasted political capital

You people should let us agree that SaharaReporters is a national social media problem.
Saying Saraki bribed CTC with $2m is outrageous.

If a smart government had prosecuted Saraki, he would have been convicted. But we have a very incompetent hand as the AG (Malami).

Someone here's saying saraki used buhari's absence to his advantage. Saraki won't have been cleared if bubu is not "resting in UK".Rest well

Personally I quite like Saraki. As a dispassionate observer I admire his gladiatorial skills. Also he represents Nigeria well abroad. But… https://t.co/MdomkwsLgP

Saraki is undoubtedly one to be reckoned with now in this political dispensation

As much I blv Saraki to be a smart thief who stole Kwara dry & still stealing, my opinion shld remain my opinion. SR is a useless platform.
