Chelsea were left feeling blue
after a superb performance from
Arsenal secured a record 13th FA
Cup triumph on Saturday.
And one Chelsea player – Victor Moses – will be in a particularly bad way after a nightmare performance to bring an end to
what has been an impressive season.
The Blues doubles hopes went up in smoke when Nigerian international, Moses, was
shown a second yellow card for simulation as his side went down 2-1 at a packed Wembley. He becomes only the fifth player
to get sent off in FA Cup final history.
But goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has leapt to the defence of Moses, claiming the Super Eagles star had nothing to apologise for following the anti-climactic end to their
campaign, Goal writes.
Conceding that Arsenal were the better side and deserved to win, the big Belgian however questioned Alexis Sanchez’s first
goal.
“We are obviously disappointed but I want to say congratulations to Arsenal. They played a good game,” Courtois said after the
game.
“The first goal should never have been allowed – it was clearly a handball and then Ramsey was offside because he was interfering in play.
“ After that goal, we tried to play but they deserved it . Then we went down to 10 men
and the red card was correct. Victor Moses doesn’t need to apologise.”
