A 44-year-old father was beaten by a gang
of youngsters on board a Dallas train
because he asked them to stop smoking
marijuana.
The brutal attack by the group on Sunday
was filmed. Kennan Jones was on the Dallas
Area Rapid Transit train with the
youngsters, heading towards Deep Ellum in
Dallas, Texas when they began smoking
marijuana. He asked them to stop and the
group attacked him.
The group, which consisted of young men
and women, pounced on Kennan, punched
him and threw him against the train’s
doors. Some of them pushed off the handle
poles to kick Jones from the air. One
passenger tried to intervene but was
slapped away.
When the train arrived at the station, the
group spilled out on to the platform but the
attack did not stop then. One of the young
women proceeded to hit Jones in the head
with a skateboard as he lay on the ground.
Jones was taken to hospital after the
incident but has since been released. He had
visible facial injuries when he spoke to DFW,
CBS’s local station in Texas. He said that
when the young woman hit him in the head
with the skateboard, he blacked out. He said
he was angry the train driver did not do
more to stop the attack.
“Everything just went from 0 to 100. I’m just
very happy to be here… happy to hug my
kids,” he said.
He said that he told the gang during the
attack: “OK, OK. Y’all win,” but they continued
to batter him. Police are investigating the
incident and the footage.
