Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has joined BT
Sport ahead of the new season in a blow for
Sky Sports.
Lampard retired in February after a
distinguished career for club and country,
ending his playing days in the States with
New York City FC.
He appeared on Sky Sports during last
season and impressed alongside Jamie
Carragher on Monday Night Football.
But Lampard has now joined rivals BT ,
where he will team up with former
international teammates Steven Gerrard, Rio
Ferdinand and Paul Scholes.
The ex-England midfielder will make his
debut in Sunday’s Community Shield
between Chelsea and Arsenal.
“I’m looking forward to an exciting new
season both here and in Europe and can’t
wait to begin working with the team.”
Head of BT Sport Simon Green confirmed
Lampard had “many offers, both within the
game and elsewhere” upon retiring.
Earlier this summer, Lampard was linked
with the manager’s position at Oxford.
