Ile-Ife in Osun, experienced its first rain in 2017 on Friday night.
The rain began around 7:37 p.m., after about 20 minutes windstorm, lasted for an hour.
Mr Tiamiyu Olaosebikan, a motorcylist, who spoke to newsmen, expressed his gratitude to God for giving the town rain.
Olaosebikan, who said that he was unable to sleep on Thursday night because of the heat, occasioned by power cut in their community, praised God for the gift of the rain.
He said that he would have sound sleep tonight, predicting the early would bring bumper harvest in 2017.
According to him, farmers would commence their planting early this year, assured the surpluscity of food and other cash crop in 2017.
