The Lagos State University, Tuesday, refuted media reports that its property was on fire, Monday, stating that there was only a minor fire incident at a section of the lock up shops in the university..
The university management in a statement said: “The attention of the Lagos State University Management has been drawn to the news going round the social media and some National Newspapers that LASU was on Fire.
“The University Management hereby states that LASU was never on fire. The true account of the situation was that there was indeed a fire incident at a section of the lock up shops in the University in the early hours of Monday, 26th December, 2016.
“The Fire Service from Ojo Division of Lagos State Fire Service which was immediately contacted responded on time to put out the fire. It was confirmed that no life was lost in the inferno. It must however be noted that LASU was not on fire as it was erroneously captioned and reported in some of the National Newspapers and other Social Media/online media..
“The University Management hereby informs all staff and stakeholders in the University that everything is under control and requests them to observe this safety principle: to prevent fire, switch off all electrical appliances after official hour.”
