Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann said it would have been a ‘dirty move’ to leave the club after their transfer ban was
confirmed.
Griezmann had been expected to leave Atletico in the summer, with Manchester United his most likely destination, having told French TV that there was ‘6/10’ chance
of joining the Premier League club.
However, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ruled in favour of the ban after Atletico’s appeal.
Speaking to French television, Griezmann said:
“It’s a hard time for the club.
“It would be a dirty move to leave now – we talked to the leaders and we will be back for
next season.”
Griezmann is expected to sign a new contract with Atletico in the summer.
