Police have arrested a 45-year-old man on suspicion of sparking a false terrorism alert at Rotterdam The Hague Airport.
Border police stepped up security at the airport on Thursday afternoon, with extra checks on vehicles, in response to an anonymous tip-off. The force did not disclose what the nature of the threat was but said there was no danger to passengers.
Police are questioning the 45-year-old man, described as an illegal immigrant with no fixed address who has a previous conviction for reporting false threats. He was also said to have unspecified mental health issues.
Rotterdam The Hague Airport said no flights were delayed as a result of the incident. The man was detained in custody pending a court appearance.
