Ander Herrera has confirmed what everyone thought – Alvaro Morata was very, very close to signing for Manchester United.
The United midfielder is of course friends with Morata who he knows from international level, and it seems that he had
even started to think he would be playing with him in the upcoming season.
Despite that, Herrera has claimed he thinks Morata will do well no matter where he ends
up – or even if he stays with Real Madrid.
The Mirror report Herrera said: “I even started to think I’d be playing with Morata.
He was really close to signing.
“It’s a shame he’s not with us but he’s a top striker and will do well wherever he plays.”Lukaku now
United may have missed out on Morata, but they have Romelu Lukaku, who Jose Mourinho claimed played better in the pre-
season friendly against LA Galaxy than the forwards who actually scored goals, including Marcus Rashford.
United do have hopes of bringing in another two players this summer, but it seems that Morata will not be one of them,
with even Chelsea struggling to prise the player away from Real Madrid.
