John Obi Mikel, Team Nigeria and U-23 captain, and team mate, Oghenekaro Etebo are the two Nigerian players named in Squawka’s best 11 players at the just concluded Rio Olympic Games.
Mikel, who played so wide and coordinated the team’s middle very well scored once and assisted four times to ensure that Nigeria win a bronze medal.
Etebo was the hero in their first match as he scored four goals against Japan and was missing in the semi-final’s 0-2 loss to Germany after he picked up a thigh injury against Colombia in the last group match.
In the list released on Wednesday, Brazil provided three players, while South Korea has two and a Mexican completed the eleven best at the Games.
It would be recalled that Mikel, through his twitter handle, relished the opportunity presented by the Games to lead Nigeria to the bronze medal finish.
“To lead this team to an Olympic medal, and make Nigerians proud – this is why I play football.” Mikel wrote on Twitter after beating Honduras.
