Residents of Lokogoma community in the Federal capital territory Abuja, staged a peaceful protest in the FCT over the lack of infrastructure and the death of a Father, Mr. Kenneth Nwoga and his two Children during a flash flood that occurred in the area last Thursday, August 17th.
According to reports, heavy rainfall started on Wednesday night into Thursday morning. The man was taking his two children to school in his white SUV when the flood submerged the bridge he was driving on, drowning him and his children. Eye witnesses say the man had been warned not to drive through the bridge due to the overflowing stream but he refused.
Their corpse was later found in the middle of a stream and deposited at the Federal Medical Centre, Jabi. The protesting residents are calling for a better drainage system in the area.
