How Rivers will Recover N13billion Uncovered at an Ikoyi, Lagos, Apartment – Gov. Wike

While speaking during as a special guest on Channels Television Sunrise Programme, the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike,
once again reiterated that the billion od Naira found at an Ikoyi residence, belong to his state.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has insisted that the N13billion found at an Ikoyi
residence in Lagos belong to his state, saying his administration has already begun the process of recovering the funds.

Speaking during a special appearance on Channels Television Sunrise Programme,
Governor Wike described the claim by the National Intelligence Agency to the funds as
part of “the antics of the Federal
Government” on the matter.

He said the state’s team of lawyers was already working to ensure that Rivers State
gets back its funds which he described as proceeds of the sale of assets belonging to
the state.

“We will follow due process of the law to get back Rivers State money found at the Ikoyi
residence,” he said.

“This money belongs to the Rivers State people. We have conducted out checks.

“We will stun Nigeria with this matter. We will come out with our evidence at the appropriate time”.
The governor said the state government would not reveal its strategy to recover the
funds because of the games being played by the APC Federal Government.

He said “the politicization of the entire issue of the Rivers State fund discovered at the
Ikoyi residence, indicate that the Federal Government has a something to hide.”

On developments in the Niger Delta region, Governor Wike accused the Niger Delta
Development Commission (NDDC) of working at cross purposes with the region.

He claimed the commission was politicising “the process of its execution of projects
which are usually abandoned.”
He accused the agency of deliberately refusing to liaise with the states before projects are initiated.

On the PDP crisis, Governor Wike said he was supporting the Ahmed Makarfi faction
and that he would wait for the Supreme Court to state its position.

“It is very much unlikely that I will work with Ali Modu Sheriff. It is not possible for me to
stay with Sheriff,” he said.
