VICTOR ANICHEBE has joined Chinese second tier side Beijing Enterprises from Sunderland following his release.
The former Everton and West Brom striker, 29, injury plagued for so much of his career, joins the side late midfielder Cheick Tiote played for before his untimely death.
Anichebe joined the Black Cats on a short-term contract in September having been signed by ex-Toffees boss David Moyes.
But his short spell at the Stadium of Light was full of knee and hamstring injuries, scoring just three goals in 19 appearances.
And upon Sunderland’s dismal relegation to the Championship at the end of last season, he was not offered a new contract.
Anichebe will play outside England for the first time in his career having moved to Liverpool aged one from Lagos where he was born.
He scored 35 goals for Everton and West Brom in 228 appearances and chose to play for the country of his birth over England, making his debut for Nigeria in March 2008.
Anichebe will make his debut once fit – and manage Gao Hongbo said: “We are delighted with the signing of Victor, who played in the Premier League.
