Fleet-footed, Super Eagles forward, Ahmed Musa has insisted he and his Muslim colleagues will not break their Ramadan fast to play Saturday’s AFCON qualifier against South Africa. At a press conference in Uyo on Thursday, Musa revealed that he was also fasting at the last World Cup in Brazil said it is no big deal to him as a player.
The Muslim players in the Eagles – Moroof Youssef, Shehu Abdullahi, Alhassan Ibrahim ‘Muazzam’ and Ahmed Musa – have said they would continue with their Ramadan fasting even for the game against South Africa.
“Ramadan is difficult, but we are used to it, it’s not anything new, we can’t stop Ramadan (fasting) because of football,” said Musa, who has played for over nine seasons now in Europe.
“I played in World Cup (2014 in Brazil) during the Ramadan and I played 90 minutes. “The coach will decide who plays. If he will play us, that’s good.”
Ahmed Musa only recently showed that he cannot be weighed down because he is fasting as he scored a brace against Togo in a friendly last week in Paris.
