A commercial motorcyclist was crushed to death on Sunday in a ghastly auto accident involving a truck at Ola-Iya junction in Osogbo, Osun state capital.
It was gathered that a truck driving towards Ola-Iya from Ogo-Oluwa area lost control and bashed the motorcyclists killing him on the spot.
The truck, according to an eye witness, Sulaiman Alabi also hit another vehicle ramming it against the road median.
The incident which occurred around 6pm led to gridlock on the Gbongan-Osogbo road.
Meanwhile, a team of police and Road Safety Corps operatives arrived the scene with a view to moving the vehicles from the road to ease movement of vehicles.
Another eyewitness said the motorcyclists were attempting to cross Fakunle section of the road against the traffic light when the truck which had lost control crushed him.
Confirming the incident, the state Public Relations Officer of Federal Road Safety Commission, Agnes Ogungbemi said there is only one casualty in the accident.
She said other victims of the accident have been taken to the hospital for treatment.
“I can confirm to you that one person died at the spot of the accident and other victims have been taken to the hospital.
We are on top of the situation trying to move the truck and the other vehicle from the road to ensure traffic flow on the road”, she said.
