Justice Nathan Musa of the Adamawa State High Court, Yola, on Monday sentenced a former Executive Secretary of the state’s Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Bishop Jingi Mayo, to five years in prison for diverting the board’s N69 million.
Jingi, who was the board’s executive secretary between 2016 and 2017, arraigned by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
The former executive secretary was convicted by the court for diverting government’s funds and making a false statement to the Commission.
The ICPC had alleged that Jingi diverted the funds meant to support the board’s operation for 2016 Christian Pilgrims to Israel.
