The official identified simply as Akin, as gathered, was effecting repairs on the high tension which services Transformer 100, when he reportedly lost his balance on Thursday.
In his bid to avoid landing on the ground, he mistakenly held on to the high tension wire , which had electricity current running through it.
Eye witnesses said the impact of the current flung him but that he was left hanging midway because of the belt tied on his waist to the pole.
An eye witness, Mr Jeremiah Moses who spoke with Vanguard, explained that, “we all raised the alarm, looking for who to rescue him..One of his colleagues displayed rare bravery as he climbed the ladder , untied the belt from his waist and managed to bring him down to the waiting hands of sympathisers.
“He was immediately rushed to Isolo Estate Clinic at Bungalow, where Doctor Olusumade tried all he could to resuscitate him. Those who later visited him at the hospital said he could talk when spoken to.”
Vanguard gathered that since the incident, power had not been restored to the area.
“When we contacted the office, we were told that we would be in darkness until the identity of the person that invited the officials for the repairs are ascertained,” one of the residents told Vanguard.
