A Spanish Princess, Maria Theresa of Bourbon-Parma has passed away from coronavirus, making her the first royal in the world to die of the pandemic.
According to her brother, Prince Sixto Enrique de Borbon, Duke of Aranjuez, the 86-year-old who happened to be a cousin of Spain’s King Felipe VI died on Thursday in France.
The report of her death comes weeks after King Felipe VI of Spain tested negative for the virus and days after the Prince of Wales, Charles, tested positive for coronavirus.
The late Princess Maria Teresa was an activist and a professor at Paris’ Sorbonne in France as well as a professor of Sociology at Complutense University in Madrid.
Her funeral was held in Madrid on Friday.
